Your care

Testing with a clear purpose.

Blood tests can investigate symptoms or monitor some conditions and treatments.

We’ll discuss which tests are appropriate for your health concerns.

Not every symptom requires blood tests, and more testing isn’t always better.

Your care

What can we discuss?

Depending on your assessment, tests may explore anaemia, thyroid function or cholesterol.

Kidney, liver and blood sugar checks may also be appropriate.

The exact tests depend on your symptoms, history and clinical needs.

Reception can confirm local availability and sampling arrangements.

Your care

Before your blood test.

Confirm the tests, sampling fee and result-review arrangements before booking.

Some tests require preparation, such as fasting.

Follow the instructions provided for your specific tests.

Tell the clinician about medicines and previous fainting during blood tests.

Your care

Results need context.

Results should be considered alongside your symptoms and medical history.

An abnormal result does not always mean you have an illness.

A normal result does not rule out every condition.

Agree how and when you’ll receive results and any follow-up advice.

Before you book

Your questions, answered.

Are blood tests included in my GP fee?

Tests may incur additional charges. Confirm the full cost before proceeding.

How quickly will results arrive?

Turnaround varies by test and laboratory. Ask before your sample is taken.

Can I bring results from elsewhere?

Yes. Bring the full report, including dates and reference ranges, for discussion.

Two locations. One personal approach.
