Driver Medicals

We are pleased to offer convenient appointments for a full range of driver medical examinations.

Driver medicals are usually carried out on a private fee basis by the patient’s own NHS GP who holds all his medical records. However, due to current pressures for appointments some NHS General Practices are declining to give patients appointments for these private medical examinations. This has lead to increasing numbers of drivers choosing to have these carried out privately as they are more convenient and there is little or no difference in cost.

However, please note that a main condition of the DVLA and local councils is that the doctor performing the examination must be in possession of the client’s medical records. Therefore, you must be able to provide a copy of your medical records from your own GP when you attend for your appointment. You can usually request your medical records from your practice receptionist at a standard charge of £10.

Driver medicals usually take around 1 hour.

If you are not already registered as a patient, then you will need to bring with you a photo ID and a proof of address to your appointment.
