Private Prescriptions

Our service

Private prescriptions are available by registering with our practice. This can be done by providing a valid photo ID such as a driving license or passport, and a proof of address.

If you are a new patient, then you will need to book an initial new patient consultation with the GP to go over your medical history before a prescription can be issued. This can be done in person or by video consultation. Once registered, patients can then easily request repeat private prescriptions by email. Regular GP follow up is required for ongoing prescriptions at varying intervals depending on the medication being taken.

Overseas visitors

We are frequently asked to provide prescriptions for overseas visitors to the UK who have become short of their usual medication. Visitors can register at our practice by showing their passport. Proof is required of the medication they are taking in the form of a foreign prescription or the medication itself.

How prescriptions are issued

Private prescriptions are issued in person during a face-to-face consultation, or can be issued electronically following a telephone or video consultation.

Repeat prescriptions can be requested by e-mail.

eprivate-prescription

For repeat prescriptions or remote consultations, we use electronic private prescription software, ePrivate Prescription, to send details of the medication to registered pharmacies in the area.

We work with online pharmacies that can deliver the actual medication to any UK address. In this case, the pharmacy will contact you to collect payment for the medication before sending it to you. Delivery is free of charge. Prescriptions received before 3pm will enable medication to reach you by the next day.
